Data Warehouse
Problem
A large IT hardware supplier in southern Germany has a self-developed merchandise management system to manage its deliveries. In parallel, a business intelligence unit reads and aggregates data from various source systems to provide real-time reporting via PowerBI. Due to the continuous development of the merchandise management system, the data structures change, leading to disruptions in the BI process and causing errors in data aggregation and reporting.
Solution
First, the current collaboration process and the technical architecture were analyzed and presented in a development diagram. On this basis, various solution options for the continuous integration of the ERP system with the data warehouse were discussed. Both technical architectures were adapted, and a process was developed that brought the two departments (ERP and BI) closer together so that the required management reports were carried out by both units as part of a holistic responsibility.
Services:
- Analysis of the collaboration process and the technical architecture of the business intelligence route.
- Elaboration of various solution options for the future collaboration model and the future technical architecture to reduce system-related dependencies
- Development of a strategy for the gradual introduction of the recommended solution
- Presentation of the options and recommendations to C-level management
